BLACKDOG HYBRIDSCAN METAL DETECTOR
Blackdog HYBRIDSCAN is a professional metal detector that combines two technologies; Induction pulses and VLF. It is used for searching for metals at great depths and can work with different types of coils: 13×13”MONOLOOP, 13×13”DD, 15×15”MONOLOOP, 15×15”DD, 1x1m, 1.5×1 .5m, 2x2m. The detector is manufactured with the highest quality, military-grade components. The main feature that stands out in this detector is that it has automatic ground tracking (AUTO-TRACK), and automatic sensitivity adjustment, which adapts itself to ground conditions. Although the detector has a manual control (GROUND), the system (AUTO-TRACK) always acts automatically on this control, regardless of its numerical position, making an auto adjustment.

DELAY: Helps to eliminate small metallic objects located at a shallow depth and also to cancel the mineralization of the ground. The lower the value, the more depth is achieved. By increasing the value, unwanted objects such as bits of aluminum foil, bits of lead, or other metals can be rejected, but the depth of the detector may be affected.
TX-BOOST: This control regulates the transmission pulse width. If it is set to a high value, the depth is greater, but the current consumption increases. For searches in areas with a lot of mineralization, it is recommended to decrease the value, to avoid false signals.
FREQ: It means the frequency control, which can range between the values of 95Hz-125Hz. This control helps eliminate electrical interference if searches are performed near power lines or other sources of interference. For optimum frequency adjustment, with the help of the GAIN setting , we look for a slight threshold level. If we notice that the threshold tone has a lot of variations, we slowly turn the FREQ adjustment control to the right or left until we get the sharpest possible threshold tone. Level 3 is recommended.
VOLUME: The volume control of the device is used to regulate the intensity of the sound emitted by the speaker. This control does not affect the depth of the device at all.
GAIN: The gain or sensitivity control of the deviceivo.
GROUND: With this setting we eliminate the effects of ground mineralization.
RESET: This button is used to reset the detector in the event of a mismatch. It is recommended to press it for 2-3 seconds after modifying any parameter of the detector.
MENÚ: This control is valid only for VLF mode, the same as the LCD screen.
POWER: This switch has three positions. In the aft position the PI, detector is turned on, in the middle position the device is completely off and in the forward position the VLF.
START-UP IN PI MODE;
Assemble the frame coil as shown in figures 1 and 2.
Connect the coil to the detector through the connector.
Hang the detector around your neck and stand inside the box.
Set the potentiometers to the following positions
DELAY en position“0”
GROUND en position “10”
TX-BOOST en position “10”
FREQ en position “3”
GAIN en position “10”
VOLUME en position “5”
Place the box on a clean floor free of metal objects. Turn on the detector with the POWER switch . Put the switch in the rear position. The detector will make a sound, then press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds and the detector should go silent. If the detector continues to emit any sound, press the RESET button again , until the detector remains silent. With these settings the detector would be ready for the search
Grab the frame straps with both hands and start walking slowly. If the detector passes over a metal object, it will beep and the DEPTH bar will light up progressively depending on the depth and size of the detected object. The detector has the ability to discriminate small metallic objects located on the surface.
If the tone of the signal rises and falls rapidly in a small area, this means that the object is small and has a depth of up to 50 cm.
When the signal tone increases in a medium-sized area, and after that it slowly decreases again, this means that a medium-sized object is found at a depth of up to 3 meters, as shown in Fig.3.
When the signal tone increases over a large-sized area, and after that it slowly decreases again, it means that a medium-sized object is found at a depth of up to 8 meters, as shown in Fig.4.
If the search is carried out in highly mineralized terrain, you must place the GROUND potentiometer in position “9” to avoid the effects of mineralization. If the ground is too mineralized, you can also reduce the effects by increasing the DELAY value and reducing the TX-BOOST and GAIN values.
If you search near power lines, and the detector is affected by interference, with the help of the FREQ control you can minimize these effects.
The detector is equipped with a very powerful 3400mAh LI-ION battery, which has an autonomy between 15 and 30 hours of searching, depending on the numerical position of the TX-BOOST button . You should charge the detector, when the battery level LED lights up. The approximate charging time is 3-4 hours, until the charger light turns green. The supplied charger is automatic and protected.
Never try to charge the batteries with any other type of charger, other than the one supplied by the manufacturer, because the detector will lose its warranty.
A damp cotton cloth is recommended for cleaning the detector. It is not recommended to use chemical products, which may damage the aesthetics of the device and its accessories.
Never use the detector inside a house where there are metallic objects.
Do not handle the detector inside. Electrocution hazard 500 Volts.
Do not turn on the detector if the frame coil is not deployed, because the detector will be damaged. Do not submerge the frame coil under water, because it is not submersible.
START-UP IN VLF MODE;
Mount the DD coil on the telescopic crutch, using the supplied plastic screw.
Connect the coil with the detector through the connector.
Hang the detector on the neck
Switch on the detector with the POWER switch in the forward position. The detector’s display will turn on and after three seconds it will show you the main screen. Press the MENU button , so that the screen shows all the settings. Once inside, select the first SENS option and press the MENU button . A scale of 0-9 will appear. To select the desired level, turn the MENU button to the right or left. When you have chosen the desired level, press the MENU button and the display will show “ OK ”. We repeat this operation with all the settings. Once you have finished adjusting all the parameters, press EXIT. All settings are automatically saved and the main screen will appear.
